Three Additional Judges Sworn in High Court

On 3rd August 2023, three additional judges were sworn in as permanent judges of the High Court of Karnataka. Justice M. Nagaprasanna, Justice B.V. Nagarathna, and Justice K. Nataraj were sworn in by the Chief Justice of Karnataka, Justice Prasanna B. Varale.
The swearing-in ceremony took place in a simple but elegant ceremony at the High Court premises in Bengaluru. The judges took the oath of office and secrecy in front of a gathering of judges, lawyers, and court staff.
The appointment of these judges will help to reduce the pendency of cases in the High Court. As of July 2023, there were over 1.3 lakh pending cases in the High Court. The appointment of these additional judges will help to expedite the disposal of cases and provide timely justice to the people of Karnataka.
About the New Judges
Justice M. Nagaprasanna was born in 1963 in Chikkaballapura, Karnataka. He obtained his law degree from the University of Mysore in 1986. He practiced law for over 20 years before being appointed as an additional judge of the High Court in 2021.
Justice B.V. Nagarathna was born in 1964 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. She obtained her law degree from the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru in 1987. She practiced law for over 15 years before being appointed as an additional judge of the High Court in 2021.
Justice K. Nataraj was born in 1965 in Mysuru, Karnataka. He obtained his law degree from the University of Mysore in 1988. He practiced law for over 18 years before being appointed as an additional judge of the High Court in 2021.
The appointment of these three judges is a welcome step towards reducing the pendency of cases in the High Court and providing timely justice to the people of Karnataka.
