Sporting CP president delivers surprising response to Ruben Amorim interest from Man Utd & Man City
Ruben Amorim has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Manchester City, but Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas has insisted that the Portuguese coach is not for sale.
Amorim has impressed at Sporting CP, leading the club to the Primeira Liga title in 2020/21 and the League Cup in 2020/21 and 2021/22.
He has also guided the club to the Champions League knockout stages in each of the past two seasons.
Amorim's success has led to him being linked with a move to a number of top clubs, including Manchester United and Manchester City.
However, Varandas has insisted that Amorim is not for sale.
"Ruben Amorim is a fundamental pillar of our project," Varandas said.
"He is a Sporting man, he loves the club and he is committed to our success."
"We are not going to sell him, he is not for sale."
Varandas' comments will come as a blow to Manchester United and Manchester City, who are both in need of a new manager.
Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November 2021, while Manchester City are set to part ways with Pep Guardiola at the end of the season.
Amorim has been seen as a potential replacement for both managers, but it now appears that he will not be leaving Sporting CP anytime soon.
