Zelenskyy: Ukraine Will Fight Against North Korea
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday that Ukraine will be forced to fight against North Korea if it joins Russia in the war against his country.
"We will not hesitate to do so if North Korea decides to support Russia's aggression against Ukraine," Zelenskyy said in an interview with CNN.
Zelenskyy said that he has already spoken with the leaders of several Western countries about the possibility of North Korea joining the war in Ukraine, and has asked for their help in deterring North Korea from doing so.
"I have spoken with the leaders of the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, and have asked for their help in deterring North Korea from joining the war in Ukraine," Zelenskyy said. "They have all assured me that they will do everything they can to prevent North Korea from doing so."
Zelenskyy also called on the international community to increase pressure on Russia to end its war against Ukraine.
"The world must do more to support Ukraine and to pressure Russia to end this war," Zelenskyy said. "We need more weapons, we need more economic sanctions, and we need more diplomatic isolation of Russia."
Zelenskyy's comments come as concerns grow that North Korea may be preparing to send troops to help Russia in the war in Ukraine.
In recent weeks, there have been reports that North Korea has been sending military equipment to Russia, and that North Korean military personnel have been seen in Russia.
The United States has warned North Korea that it will face serious consequences if it sends troops to help Russia in the war in Ukraine.
"We have made it clear to North Korea that there will be serious consequences if they send troops to help Russia in the war in Ukraine," Blinken said. "We are prepared to use all available tools to deter North Korea from doing so."
