WTA Jiangxi Day 2 Predictions Including Laura Siegemund vs Moyuka Uchijima
Day 2 of the WTA Jiangxi Open will see four more first-round matches played, including a clash of former Top 30 players between Laura Siegemund and Moyuka Uchijima.
Here are our predictions for all four matches on Day 2:
Moyuka Uchijima vs Laura Siegemund: Siegemund is the favorite in this matchup, but Uchijima is a dangerous floater who could cause an upset, especially on hard courts. Siegemund has won three of their four career meetings, but Uchijima won their most recent meeting in straight sets on hard courts in 2021. Uchijima has been in good form this summer, reaching the quarterfinals in both Granby and Vancouver. Siegemund, meanwhile, has struggled since returning from injury, losing in the first round of her last two tournaments. If Uchijima can serve well and keep Siegemund from dictating the points, she has a chance to pull off the upset. But Siegemund's experience and power should be enough to see her through in three sets.
Karolina Muchova vs Qiang Wang: Muchova is another former Top 30 player who has struggled with injuries in recent years. She returned to the Top 100 this summer, but she has not been in good form since reaching the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. Wang, meanwhile, has been in solid form all season, winning the title in Lyon and reaching the semifinals in Budapest. She is also a former Top 20 player who has been ranked as high as No. 12 in the world. Wang should be the favorite in this matchup, but Muchova has the potential to cause an upset if she is fully fit.
Caroline Dolehide vs Xinyu Wang: Dolehide is a rising star on the WTA Tour, but she has not yet made a deep run at a WTA 250 event. She reached the quarterfinals in Budapest last month, but she has lost in the first round of her last two tournaments. Wang, meanwhile, is a former Top 100 player who has been ranked as high as No. 79 in the world. She has struggled with injuries in recent years, but she has shown signs of a return to form this summer. Dolehide should be the favorite in this matchup, but Wang has the potential to cause an upset if she is fully fit.
Rebecca Marino vs Lulu Sun: Marino is a former Top 40 player who has struggled with injuries in recent years. She returned to the Top 100 this summer, but she has not been in good form since reaching the semifinals in Granby. Sun, meanwhile, is a rising star on the WTA Tour. She won her first WTA title in Granby last month, and she has reached the quarterfinals in her last two tournaments. Sun should be the favorite in this matchup, but Marino has the potential to cause an upset if she is fully fit.
