Vinicius Junior Convinced He'll Not Lift 2024 Ballon d'Or As Real Madrid Cancel Travel Plans For Star

Furious Spanish Giants Join Dortmund In Boycotting Ceremony After Bellingham Snub

Real Madrid have sensationally canceled travel plans for Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham to attend the 2024 Ballon d'Or ceremony in a dramatic boycott of the event.

The Spanish giants are furious that neither player was included in the 30-man shortlist for the prestigious award, despite their outstanding performances for club and country over the past year.

Vinicius Junior, in particular, has been in scintillating form for Real Madrid, scoring 18 goals and providing 16 assists in all competitions this season.

'I'm convinced I won't win the Ballon d'Or'

The Brazilian winger is convinced that he will not be crowned the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner, despite his impressive form.

"I'm convinced I won't win the Ballon d'Or," Vinicius Junior told reporters.

"There are other players who have done more than me this year. I'm just happy to be playing for Real Madrid and winning trophies."

Real Madrid join Dortmund in boycott

Real Madrid's decision to boycott the Ballon d'Or ceremony follows a similar move by Borussia Dortmund, who were also angered by Bellingham's omission from the shortlist.

The German club released a statement saying that they "strongly condemn" the decision to leave Bellingham out of the running for the award.

"Jude Bellingham is one of the best young players in the world and he deserves to be recognized for his achievements," the statement read.

FIFA yet to comment

FIFA, who organize the Ballon d'Or ceremony, have yet to comment on Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund's boycott.

However, it is likely that the decision to leave Vinicius Junior and Bellingham out of the shortlist will be met with widespread criticism.
