Timberwolves Lineup News: Gobert Remains Out, Anderson to Start
Anderson to Start in Place of Gobert
The Minnesota Timberwolves will be without center Rudy Gobert for the second straight game when they host the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night. Gobert is dealing with a right ankle sprain that he suffered in Wednesday's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
In Gobert's absence, Naz Reid started at center in Friday's win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Reid played well, finishing with 15 points and 13 rebounds, but he also had five turnovers. Anderson is a more experienced player than Reid, and he should be able to provide the Timberwolves with more stability on the defensive end.
Other Lineup Changes
In addition to Gobert, the Timberwolves will also be without forward Jaden McDaniels, who is dealing with a right ankle sprain. McDaniels is expected to miss at least two weeks.
With McDaniels out, Kyle Anderson is expected to start at power forward. Anderson has started 12 games this season, and he is averaging 6.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
Impact on the Timberwolves
The absence of Gobert and McDaniels is a significant blow to the Timberwolves. Gobert is one of the best defenders in the NBA, and McDaniels is a rising star. Without them, the Timberwolves will be less effective on both ends of the floor.
The Timberwolves will need to find a way to replace the production of Gobert and McDaniels. Reid will need to continue to play well, and Anderson will need to step up in a bigger role. The Timberwolves will also need to get more production from their other players, such as Anthony Edwards, D'Angelo Russell, and Karl-Anthony Towns.
