The Sydney Sixers Women have defeated the Adelaide Strikers Women by 4 wickets in the 5th match of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Thursday.
Chasing a target of 136 runs, the Sixers started well with openers Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry putting on a 45-run partnership for the first wicket.
Healy was dismissed for 22 by Megan Schutt, but Perry continued to bat aggressively and scored a brilliant 63 off just 47 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes.
Captain Shafali Verma made a valuable contribution of 28 runs, while Sarah Aley and Erin Burns chipped in with 17 and 15 runs, respectively.
For the Strikers, Schutt was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/25, while Darcie Brown and Tahlia McGrath took one wicket each.
Earlier, the Strikers were bowled out for 135 runs in 19.4 overs.
Opener Laura Wolvaardt top-scored for the Strikers with a well-made 52 off 45 balls, while McGrath made 25 and Katie Mack 21.
For the Sixers, Perry was once again the star with the ball, taking 3/21 in her 4 overs, while Aley and Burns took two wickets each.
With this win, the Sixers moved to the top of the WBBL table, while the Strikers slipped to third place.
