Pacers Rookie Johnny Furphy Out for Game in Orlando with Strep Throat

Indiana Pacers rookie Johnny Furphy will miss Tuesday night's game against the Orlando Magic due to strep throat, the team announced.

Furphy, a second-round pick out of Villanova, has appeared in 27 games for the Pacers this season, averaging 2.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.

The Pacers will be without Furphy and several other key players for Tuesday's game, including Tyrese Haliburton (knee), Myles Turner (foot), and Daniel Theis (knee).

Impact on the Pacers

Furphy's absence will likely result in increased minutes for other Pacers rookies, such as Bennedict Mathurin and Andrew Nembhard.

Mathurin, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft, is averaging 17.2 points per game this season, while Nembhard, the No. 31 overall pick, is averaging 7.3 points and 3.1 assists per game.
