Erik ten Hag is Man Utd's 'ideal' manager to replace 'out-of-touch' Guardiola

Erik ten Hag is the ‘ideal’ manager to replace Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, according to former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

Guardiola’s future at the Etihad Stadium is in major doubt after it emerged that he is being investigated by the Premier League over alleged breaches of financial regulations.

And should the Spaniard leave, Robinson believes that United should move for the Ajax boss.

Robinson told Football Insider: “If Guardiola does leave, Manchester United should definitely be in the fight for him.

“It’s important to remember that he’s not just enjoyed success at Manchester City, he’s also won major trophies at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.”

“He is a winner and would take Manchester United back to the top.”

Ten Hag would be a ‘perfect fit’ for Man Utd

Ten Hag has been linked with the United job in the past, and he would be a popular choice with the fans.

The 53-year-old has a proven track record of success, having won five major trophies with Ajax.

He is also known for his attacking style of play, which would be a welcome change for United fans after the dour style of play under Ralf Rangnick.

Robinson added: “Ten Hag would be a perfect fit for United.

“He’s a young, hungry manager who is not afraid to play attacking football.

“He would also be able to attract top players to Old Trafford.”

Ten Hag is under contract at Ajax until 2024, but it is believed that he would be open to a move to the Premier League.

If Guardiola does leave City, United would be wise to make him their number one target.
