Drivers are being urged to avoid the area after a serious crash closed a road in Derbyshire
A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Derbyshire.
The incident happened on the A515 at Brailsford, near Ashbourne, at around 11.30am on Saturday (August 19).
The road is closed in both directions between the A52 and the B5035 while emergency services deal with the incident.
Derbyshire Police said the motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with serious injuries.
A spokesperson for the force said: "We were called to a report of a road traffic collision on the A515 at Brailsford at around 11.30am today (August 19).
"The collision involved a car and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, has been airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with serious injuries.
"The road is currently closed in both directions between the A52 and the B5035 while emergency services deal with the incident.
"We would ask people to avoid the area if possible and find alternative routes.
"Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information is asked to contact Derbyshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 331 of August 19."
