'I trained with Ruud van Nistelrooy this summer': Young striker hails Man Utd legend as he targets becoming the club's next No.9
Charlie McNeill spent the summer training with former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy as part of the club's bid to become the club's next No.9.
The 19-year-old has scored 20 goals for the Under-23s this season and has also made his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup.
He has been training with the first-team squad during pre-season and is hoping to break into the team next season.
'He's a great role model'
Speaking to the club's website, McNeill said: "I trained with Ruud van Nistelrooy this summer and he was a great role model.
"He's a great goalscorer and he gave me a lot of advice on how to improve my game.
"I'm really grateful for the opportunity to have trained with him and I hope to learn from him in the future."
'I want to become Man Utd's next No.9'
McNeill is a product of the United academy and has been with the club since he was eight years old.
He is a prolific goalscorer at youth level and has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of some of the club's most famous strikers.
McNeill added: "My goal is to become Man Utd's next No.9.
"I know it's a big ambition but I'm willing to work hard and do whatever it takes to achieve it."
