Manchester United: Former Ruud van Nistelrooy's prodigy claims he would be perfect at Old Trafford
Erik ten Hag backed to sign his former Ajax starlet Brian Brobbey as Cristiano Ronaldo's replacement
The Red Devils are said to be interested in the Dutch striker who could be tempted into a reunion with his old boss
Erik ten Hag is on the lookout for a new striker this summer and has been linked with a move for his former Ajax starlet Brian Brobbey.
Brobbey, 20, left Ajax to join RB Leipzig last summer but struggled to make an impact in the Bundesliga, scoring just four goals in 29 appearances. He has since returned to his former club on loan and has rediscovered his scoring touch, with 13 goals in 25 games so far this season.
According to reports in England and Netherlands, Manchester United are interested in signing Brobbey and believe he has the potential to become the club's new number nine. The Red Devils are in need of a new striker following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in November, and Brobbey could be the ideal man to fill the void.
Brobbey is a tall, physical striker who is good in the air and has a powerful shot. He is also a good dribbler and passer, making him a well-rounded forward. He is not short of self-belief either.
"I trained under Ruud van Nistelrooy and can become Manchester United's number nine," Brobbey said in an interview recently.
Ten Hag knows Brobbey well from their time together at Ajax and is a big fan of the player. He believes Brobbey has the potential to be a top striker and would be a valuable addition to his Manchester United squad.
However, Manchester United will face competition from other clubs for Brobbey's signature. Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also said to be interested in the striker, so Ten Hag will need to move quickly if he wants to secure his services.
If Ten Hag does manage to sign Brobbey, it would be a major coup for Manchester United. The Dutch striker has the potential to be a world-class player and would be a huge asset to the Red Devils as he looks to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.
