'Explosive Ordnance Disposal' unit at the scene at Dumbarton Road

Footage has shown a bomb disposal van outside a Clydebank tower block, as a 'suspicious item' was reported.

Emergency services raced to Dumbarton Road at around 5:10pm on Thursday, after concerns were raised about the item.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit were reportedly at the scene, with residents asked to stay indoors.

Police say they are not treating the incident as terrorism related as of yet

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 5.10pm on Thursday, 9 March, police were called to Dumbarton Road, Clydebank, following a report of a suspicious item.

"EOD are in attendance."

Concerned residents took to social media after seeing the heavy police presence in the area.

One person wrote: "Anyone know what's going on Dumbarton Road Clydebank? Road closed, police everywhere."

Another added: "Avoid Dumbarton Road Clydebank, police incident, bomb disposal."
