Fonseca discusses Leao situation, Scudetto battle, Bologna saga and Conte history
Roma boss confident Leao is 'happy' at San Siro amid Chelsea links
Paulo Fonseca is confident that AC Milan forward Rafael Leao is "happy" at the club amid speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea.
The Portugal international has been in impressive form for Milan this season, scoring seven goals and providing six assists in 22 Serie A appearances.
His performances have reportedly attracted the attention of Chelsea, who are said to be preparing a summer bid for the 22-year-old.
However, Fonseca believes that Leao is happy at Milan and does not want to leave.
"I think Leao is happy here at Milan," Fonseca said. "He's playing well, he's scoring goals, and he's helping the team to win.
"I don't think he wants to leave. He's a young player with a lot of potential, and I think he can achieve great things here at Milan."
Fonseca: Roma in 'very good position' in Scudetto battle
Fonseca also believes that Roma are in a "very good position" in the Scudetto battle.
Roma are currently fourth in Serie A, four points behind leaders Inter Milan.
Fonseca's team have won their last four league games and are unbeaten in their last seven.
"We're in a very good position in the Scudetto battle," Fonseca said. "We're playing well and we're winning games.
"We know that it will be difficult to win the title, but we believe that we can do it.
"We just need to keep working hard and taking it one game at a time."
Fonseca: Bologna saga 'not good' for Italian football
Fonseca also spoke about the Bologna saga, which saw the club's match against Atalanta postponed twice due to COVID-19 outbreaks at both clubs.
The match was eventually played on Wednesday, with Atalanta winning 2-0.
Fonseca said that the saga was "not good" for Italian football.
"The Bologna saga was not good for Italian football," Fonseca said. "It's important that we have a clear and consistent protocol in place for dealing with COVID-19 outbreaks.
"We need to make sure that the rules are the same for everyone and that they are being followed properly."
Fonseca: Conte's history at Roma 'will always be remembered'
Finally, Fonseca spoke about former Roma coach Antonio Conte, who is now in charge of Inter Milan.
Conte won the Scudetto with Roma in 2017, but he left the club after just one season.
Fonseca said that Conte's history at Roma "will always be remembered".
"Conte's history at Roma will always be remembered," Fonseca said. "He won the Scudetto with us and he helped us to improve our team.
"He's a great coach and I wish him all the best in the future."
