Police: No connection between death investigation and discovery of suspicious item

No link between the two incidents, police stress

Police have confirmed that there is no connection between the death of a man in West Sussex and the discovery of a suspicious item in a house in the same area.

The man's body was found at an address in Bognor Regis on Monday, August 15.

On Tuesday, August 16, police were called to a house in nearby Aldwick after reports of a suspicious item being found.

The item was assessed by specialist officers and found to be non-hazardous.

A police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that there is no link between the death of a man in Bognor Regis and the discovery of a suspicious item in Aldwick.

"The two incidents are being treated as separate investigations and there is no suggestion that they are connected in any way.

"We would like to reassure the public that there is no ongoing risk to the community and our enquiries are continuing."

The death of the man in Bognor Regis is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination is due to take place.
