Brewers' Houser Dominates Dodgers in Shutout Win
Houser Shines as Brewers Blank Dodgers 4-0
Brewers Starter Throws Six Scoreless Innings
The Milwaukee Brewers snapped a three-game losing streak on Tuesday night with a 4-0 victory at Dodger Stadium against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The win was the Brewers' first since a 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 29. The Dodgers have lost three of their last four games and are now 14-15 on the season.
Adrian Houser started for the Brewers and was brilliant, allowing just three hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out seven batters and improved to 4-3 on the season. The Brewers' bullpen was also solid, with Brad Boxberger, Devin Williams, and Josh Hader combining to allow just one hit over the final three innings. Hader picked up his eighth save of the season.
The Brewers got all the offense they needed in the second inning off Dodgers starter Walker Buehler. Willy Adames led off the inning with a single, and Kolten Wong followed with a walk. Rowdy Tellez then drove in Adames with a double to give the Brewers a 1-0 lead. Hunter Renfroe followed with a sacrifice fly to score Wong, making it 2-0.
The Brewers added two more runs in the fourth inning. Christian Yelich led off with a walk, and Adames followed with a single. Wong then drove in Yelich with a double, and Tellez followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0. The Brewers had a chance to add more runs in the fifth inning, but they stranded the bases loaded.
The Dodgers had a chance to get back in the game in the seventh inning, but they failed to capitalize with runners on first and second with one out. The Brewers' bullpen held the Dodgers scoreless the rest of the way to secure the victory.
The Brewers will face the Dodgers again on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium. Corbin Burnes will start for the Brewers, while Tony Gonsolin will start for the Dodgers.
