AFC Challenge Cup to start from first week of September
The 2024–25 AFC Challenge Cup will be the seventh edition of the AFC Challenge Cup, a quadrennial international association football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the emerging nations of Asia. The tournament will be held in Uzbekistan at the venues in Tashkent, Namangan and Qarshi. Eight teams will participate in the tournament, which will be played from 1 to 15 September 2024. The top three teams will qualify for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup. Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Guam, Laos, Mongolia, Nepal and the Maldives were drawn into group A while, Cambodia, Chinese Taipei, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan will play each other in group B.

Bashundhara Kings, the Champions of Bangladesh, are drawn in Group A alongside hosts Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and the Maldives. The Kings have been in good form this season, winning the Bangladesh Premier League title for the third time in a row. They will be looking to make an impact in the AFC Challenge Cup and qualify for the Asian Cup for the first time. East Bengal, the Calcutta Football League champions, are drawn in Group B alongside India, Tajikistan and Cambodia. The Red and Golds have a rich history in Indian football, winning the league title a record 39 times. They will be looking to make a strong impression in the AFC Challenge Cup and qualify for the Asian Cup for the second time.
