Airtel Restructures: DTH, Entertainment to be Entities; Customer Experience to Stand Alone
Bharti Airtel Plans Major Restructuring
Bharti Airtel, India's leading telecom operator, is planning a major restructuring exercise that will see its DTH (direct-to-home) and entertainment businesses being carved out into separate entities. The move is part of a broader plan to streamline operations and improve customer experience.
The restructuring will involve the creation of two new subsidiaries - Airtel DTH and Airtel Entertainment. The DTH business will focus on providing satellite television services, while the entertainment business will offer broadband, mobile TV, and OTT (over-the-top) content.
Customer Experience to Stand Alone
In addition to the DTH and entertainment businesses, Airtel is also planning to create a new customer experience (CX) entity. This entity will be responsible for all aspects of customer care, including sales, marketing, and service.
The CX entity will be led by Shashwat Sharma, who is currently the CEO of Airtel Payments Bank. Sharma has over 20 years of experience in the telecom industry and is known for his customer-centric approach.
Benefits of the Restructuring
The restructuring is expected to bring several benefits to Airtel, including:
- Enhanced focus on customer experience
- Improved operational efficiency
- Increased flexibility to respond to changing market dynamics
- Creation of new growth opportunities
The restructuring is expected to be completed by the end of the current fiscal year.
